Netflix original "Blood Red Sky" is easily one of the better vampire films for a long while, it's not perfect but it is definitely a very solid movie. The concept is original, a mother and her child are on a plane that is hijacked but the mother is secretly suffering from vampirism.
It's a mix between a thriller like con-air and Stephen Kings "Night-flier". it's played very straight and the acting is pretty good all round and the story while somewhat predictable delivers on its premise. There aren't many negative things to say about it, there's only small niggles like that it doesn't have the most menacing or original antagonist I've ever seen, he's passable though and doesn't ruin your experience of the movie.
The core of the film though is the tragic relationship between the mother and her son and that is really what you draws you into the story. The make up and creature design overall are all pretty good, I'd like to see what they do with a sequel, if one is ever made.
It's not quite 30 days of night but its a very decent vampire movie.
