Birth/Rebirth

Birth/Rebirth is a very original film, it borrows elements from Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and Pet Cemetery but grounds them in reality, to show what the medical procedure of reanimating a dead person would really look like.

The story follows Judy Reyes character Celie who has recently lost her daughter and Marin Ireland's character Rose, a coroner who has discovered a scientific method of resurrecting the dead.

I have to say both women give outstanding performances in this film. Like all of us I'm only familiar with Reyes as Carla from Scrubs and to see her take on and succeed at such an emotionally demanding role after that was a completely unexpected surprise.

Marin Ireland though is the one that steals the movie, her performance as the half demented modern day Dr Henry Frankenstein is nothing short of brilliant.

The film tonally goes for a unique mix of intense drama and super black comedy and manages to get the balance of the two just right. There are also some highly disturbing cadaver and gore effects.

I can tell this is a film that will fly under everyones radar
its definitely worth seeing, go check it out.
