The Deep House

The Deep House has a great concept, that being that it's probably the first haunted house movie set underwater that I've ever seen but there's too much wrong with it to really make it stand out at all for me. Take away the concept and it's another generic haunted house movie and not a particularly strong one at that.

There's one or two really unique moments because of the setting but outside of that there's not a lot on offer here. The acting is pretty wooden and you don't care or feel for the characters at all. The camera work is objectively awful in places and the ghosts, when they do show up aren't frightening. I also hate being able to count down to jump-scares in a film, if they're that predictable they shouldn't be in there to begin with.

That said, I didn't hate it, I just never felt particularly invested or engaged with what I was watching, it was ok.
