Lovely Molly

I watched this film for the first time a few years ago and tonight I decided to re-watch it, its nowhere near as good as i remember, which is strange as that never happens.

I think its core idea is good but the film built around it is a little pedestrian and has some big pacing issues. The set up is your standard demonic possession fare, Molly and her husband move into her family home which harbors dark memories of her abuse at the hands of her father, before long she becomes convinced that he is still alive and is haunting her.

The film does try to be a commentary on child sexual abuse and PTSD and i think that's why I liked it originally, It took the demonic possession sub-genre and tried something original, but honestly on a re-watch it doesn't hold up. It has pointless plot points that come from nowhere, its repetitive, has a bit of hammy acting and its only somewhat saved by its concept and one creepy image right at the very end.

Sadly none of that is enough for me to recommend it,
there are far better demonic possession films out there than this.
