The Last Voyage Of The Demeter follows the seventh chapter in Bram Stoker's novel where the demonic count travels by boat from Transylvania to England. Really cool idea for a film but I can't help but think I would have preferred the team who made this to have made a full Dracula mini series, that would have been amazing.
It's a good film but it feels incomplete, perhaps they will make up for this with a sequel depending on how much money it pulls in at the box office. But as it stands I enjoyed it, I especially liked the design of Dracula in this, he's got a bit of Marlow from Salem's Lot and obviously Count Orlock from Nosferatu in him.
One downside is he is used very sparingly, but what we see of him is great. The rest of the movie is enjoyable but not a standout of the vampire genre, it essentially plays out a lot like Alien, a ill-equipped crew on a ship with a creature that is beyond their comprehension and ability to destroy.
I can still recommend it,
it's a good time
