Afflicted next to REC is the best found footage film ever made. It has the best camera work of any film in the genre, great acting from the lead cast and a really heartbreaking and engaging story.
The film follows two friends, Derek and Clif, as they go on a year long trip around the world. The reason for their travel is that Derek has a terminal illness and wants to live life as fully as he can until it is over. All is going well until Derek contracts a mysterious disease.
The core of this movie is Derek and Clif's tragic friendship. They both come across like good , decent affable people so when the series of worsening events begin to unfold you're really invested.
Its such an original idea to have a found footage vampire movie that plays out like this does, with the two friends testing all the tropes attached to vampirism and documenting them as Derek begins to slowly transform.
The only negative, and let me stress its not a huge one,
is that one fairly pivotal character isn't quite as convincing as I'd have liked, but other than that
I can't praise this movie enough,
It's one of the best vampire films out there
