I'm not quite sure why Fractured appears quite frequently on people's underrated thrillers lists on reddit. People build up the ending and the twist to this film like it comes completely out of left field, when it is so obviously telegraphed throughout the second act. It is so obvious that when the reveal happened i was left thinking, "well of course that's what's going on, it couldn't be anything else!".
That's my biggest problem with the film, it's the most overused twist to a psychological thriller and i've seen it done far better in other movies. There is nothing original about this film whatsoever. It's not awful but its extremely generic, in fact that's the same criticism i think everyone has about Sam Worthington as an actor.
He's fine but he's just sort of average isn't he? well that's what this film is, average down to a T.
The plot is that Sam Worthington's character is traveling home with his wife and daughter when his daughter ends up having a fall during a rest stop. Sam Worthington then brings her to hospital when she then disappears without a trace, the hospital staff don't know where she is and are acting suspiciously. Is Sam Worthington insane or are they hiding something.
You can guess the rest and yes the twist is exactly what you think it is.
