The Menu is the classiest thriller of the year and the most original take on the "group of people go to an island owned by an insane eccentric evil genius" trope I've ever seen.
There's not a whole lot I can actually say on the film without giving away spoilers, which would make this review feel well, a bit redundant.
What I can tell you is that the film follows the structure of a four course meal and builds in intensity throughout each intricately presented "dish" which is served to the affluent guests who've had the unfortunate privilege of attending the prestigious event at the secluded island restaurant.
Its satirisation of pretentious food critics, precious chefs and overpriced Michelin star restaurants is really well done, (pun shamelessly intended) and its so well directed that it owns the title now for most intense cheeseburger sequence in a film,
yep, that's now a thing, this movie succeeded at having a chef cooking a cheeseburger be the most edge of your seat sequence in it.
I'd definitely recommend The Menu.
