Infinity Pool

Infinity pool is so bad that I began writing this review while watching the ending. Seriously, Mia Goth deserves better than this, someone should tell her to stop taking on bad movies just because they seem like they might have an interesting idea lost within them.

First Marrowbone and now this, of course she's the best thing this film has going for it but that really goes without saying, she's great in everything she's in, even trash like this.

Infinity Pool is a very unusual film with one interesting scene to its credit, everything other than that is awful. It’s one of those films where you can tell the director is basically asking the audience “tell me what it means!, tell me how clever I am” every five bloody minutes. It's very David Cronenberg, who funnily enough is the directors father, sadly it has all the things that are apparent in the worst movies in Cronenberg's back catalogue.

Infinity pool is odd, it tries to be too clever for its own good and unlike Cronenberg's videodrome which I also despise, has absolutely no coherent message, it has bits and pieces of half baked ideas on classism, morality and identity but never really settles on any of its themes with enough clarity to be effective.

It's a real shame because it starts relatively well and feels like its actually going somewhere interesting but before long it just becomes weird for the sake of being weird but even more strangely with the all the madness going on it was never captivating, just long, tiresome, pretentious and dull.

....I think you can tell,
I do not like this film and I do not recommend you watch it.
