Revenge (2017)

Coralie Fargeat's "Revenge" is a rape-revenge film with restraint and a slight art-house touch, which i appreciate, i almost can't stand to watch I Spit On Your Grave because of its emphasis on sexual assault, (it literally takes up around an hour of the runtime), so its nice to see a rape-revenge film that focuses predominately on the revenge aspect. The film follows the exact premise of every single rape-revenge movie, our heroine is assaulted by disgusting, depraved , weak and offish men, she then after being left for dead goes through a transformation, comes into her power and pays back blood for blood.

Rape-revenge movies are an interesting phenomenon, they're seen as the most exploitative and disgusting films in horror but they're full of feminist imagery and messaging and Revenge is no exception, while it has a few pacing issues and i felt it needed a little more violence and a greater number of antagonists,  it is still among the best of the genre and features a great final girl.
