Want to watch a movie that's basically die hard with a baboon? SHAKMA is about the worlds angriest monkey rampaging through a research facility where a group of university students are playing a live action role playing game. yep that's the movies plot and its fucking mental.
They also used a real baboon and that baboon is seriously PISSED!, no seriously, it's not acting, they got an animal trainer to constantly whisper the monkeys name from a behind a door to get it riled up before shooting. That monkey is genuinely in the worst mood possible and it shows. It hates the cast and it hates being in this movie and it no doubt hates you for watching it.....because rest assured, it hates everything.
Strangely the film also features Fright Night lead actor Roddy McDowell, who is probably spending most of the film wondering where his career went and what brought him to be in this weird evil monkey movie.....that said, I enjoyed it. How many slasher films do you know that star an angry baboon?, answer, none, the crazy baboon slasher sub-genre starts and ends with SHAKMA.
Perhaps for a good reason but I had fun with it and I'm glad it exists. It's hilarious.
