Cheap Thrills directed by E.L Katz is about two reunited friends, Craig a down on his luck everyman played by Pat Healy and Vince, a opportunistic loan shark played by Ethan Embry, who get talking to two insanely rich lunatics (played by David Koechner and Sarah Paxton) in a dive bar who begin to dare them to do increasingly questionable things for vast sums of money.
I really enjoyed this movie. Pat Healy's performance is very reminiscent of Michael Douglas's in falling down, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if that was an influence for this movie.
It is all about what seemingly normal men are capable of when they're desperate and broke. I don't usually like horror/comedies but there are a few which know how to strike the balance between the two perfectly and Cheap Thrills is definitely one of those.
David Koechner ("Champ" from Anchorman) is hilarious as the sociopathic entrepreneur, he's essentially playing a seriously evil version of his role in anchorman.
If you like films where ordinary people are put in awful situations that make them act against their own self interest, you like this.
