Kidnapped is rough, it is the darkest most visceral and brutal home invasion film there is. The tone of the film is probably closest to Eden Lake, it is a bleak ride and I fucking love it.
Kidnapped is about a family who are having an ordinary night in until their home is invaded by a group of masked men. It is the only home invasion film to genuinely scare me, it is too real.
It doesn't feel like you're watching a film, it feels like you're watching a crime happen, a lot of this is down to the decision to have the film being composed by 12 long shots without cuts, which gives the pacing of the film an urgency to it and makes the events depicted feel all the more realistic.
It is a simple tight story very well directed, acted, and it delivers in spades. Check it out if you like home invasion flicks, if not, give it a wide berth.
