Darkness Falls is an early 2000's supernatural horror about a disfigured nightmarish tooth fairy. Honestly, It's not that bad, I think generally the early 2000's has a pretty strong track record for supernatural horror, even the subpar ones are decent.
Now Darkness Falls isn't quite The Ring or Final Destination, but it has a lot of the key features you'd enjoy if you enjoy movies like that, horror movies which came out at that time were mostly centered around being mysteries and were predominately story driven, they weren't aiming to shock or be in any way artful, they never tried to be overly frightening, only good solid fun and that's what Darkness Falls is.
I will admit though the best thing about the whole movie is the opening, the first ten minutes is excellent and I think it would have been a far better film had it focused on its leads as children rather than adults, but there you go. I love the almost Grimm story of the Toothfairy, the lore being that she was a local recluse who the children of the village killed in a fire and so she vowed to return and rip their teeth from their heads.
Really cool concept and that first ten minutes really delivers on it.
The rest of the movie is decent enough, Its exactly what you expect, its dumb fun you can turn off your mind and enjoy and that's all these types of movies are supposed to be.
