Raze from director Josh C. Waller, Starring Zoe Bell, who is most notably known for her work as a stunt double and the lead in death proof, is a brutal grindhouse action movie about women who have been kidnapped by a shady underground organisation and forced to fight each other to the death or else their loved ones will be murdered.
There is a lot to like about this movie, it's intense, bloody and violent and the fights are disturbingly realistic. Zoe Bell is great in it but sadly there were a few things that didn't stick the landing for me in the end, which is a real shame because it was very close to earning a five star rating.
I really like brutally violent B-movies and the premise for this is different, its pretty original and for ninety percent of the film it does deliver until it makes a controversial choice right within the last three minutes of the film that doesn't work in its favour at all. Does that ruin my entire experience of the movie, hell no, but if I don't agree with the last thing the film leaves me with, that's a problem.
It's not a bad movie though and right up until the end I enjoyed the hell out of it. Overall I can recommend it if grimy nasty exploitation movies are your thing.
