Kai: The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker

Published on 11 January 2023 at 23:21

You may remember seeing Kai a few years back being interviewed after a driver who had picked him up hitchhiking had began assaulted a woman until Kai intervened and smashed him over the head with a hatchet.

When Kai was interviewed he became an overnight sensation because of his quitted witted but strange answers to questions,
he looked like your average California-couch surfing pothead and had this charismatic innocence about him which was immediately endearing, the first thing he said before providing any answers was directly to the audience watching at home.

"no matter what you've done, you deserve respect, even if you make mistakes. You're lovable and it doesn't matter your looks, skills, or age, or size or anything, you're worth while"

When asked if he had a last name he said that he didn't have anything.

As soon as the interview aired Kai received calls from high profile networks wanting to give him his own reality TV show, he had offers from record labels to record and produce his music and he even appeared on Jimmy Kimmel once the studio was able to track him down.

Years later Kai was arrested and charged with first degree murder,
he claims to have been assaulted while staying at an elderly mans residence, the validity of these claims is doubtful, the documentary shows that Kai is far more complicated than he was presented to be, personally he reminds me a lot of Charles Manson.

Someone who was completely incapable of living in society,
had his own unusual set of morals because of his unique life experiences and who could go from being whimsical and clownish to being extremely enraged and violent at the drop of a hat,
not an inherently evil person but someone who was totally and utterly unpredictable and so far removed from society that he had no hope of ever being part of it.

The documentary shows what happens when you either die a meme or live long enough to see yourself become a villain.
