Lost Souls came out at the time when horror seemed to be oversaturated with thrillers about the return of the antichrist, and has seemingly been forgotten about unlike films like Stigmata, and my personal favourite End Of Days.
It's really not a bad film at all, I love the concept, which is that a woman who survived an exorcism has aligned herself with the church and is seeking out the man who will unknowingly become the antichrist in an attempt to save him from his fate.
Really cool idea and the film delivers in a lot of ways, it has that early 2000's mystery thriller charm to it and the movie looks like it has been put through an aged filter with washed out colours and while it may not be Winona Ryder's best performance in a film she's still pretty good in it. The only negative is that it ends quite abruptly.
I think if you like occult horror its worth a watch, sure there are elements about it that are dated but the story and mystery is quite engaging even if it is a bit of a run of the mill horror/thriller, it's definitely enjoyable.
