Dredd is a perfect comic book film, it's made by people who have a clear love for the character and the world of Judge Dredd. Everything you see on screen is 100% what a Judge Dredd film should be and Karl Urban embodies the character to a T.
Dredd is a beautiful shot to look like a vibrant comic book while its VHS film grain filter make it fit in with the ultraviolent grindhouse action movies of the 1980's. I love movies that know exactly what they are and although Dredd is extremely one note it plays that one note beautifully.
The premise is that the seasoned judge takes on a new recruit to inspect a crime scene in a flat book run by the deadly Ma-Ma gang, once instead the block goes on lockdown and the judges must attempt to survive the night.
In closing, its a great time, I really hope it gets a sequel and we get to see Karl Urban face off against Judge Death.
