No Man Of God

No Man Of God is a pretty accurate dramatisation of Ted Bundy's conversations with FBI agent Bill Hagmaier. It is by far the best film on the Ted Bundy case because it doesn't glorify the man, it humanises him and tells his story, accurately and unflinchingly.

Jack Kirby embodies Bundy so well that it is literally like you're watching him, the likeness between the two men as you can see above Is uncanny. Personally I detest the other films made about Ted Bundy, the most recent being the ridiculous "Shockingly evil, twisted and vile" which stars Zac Efron of all people and doesn't treat the victims with any of the respect they deserve by making up its own details and ignoring the facts of the case. This film however shows the viewer what really happened, with the vast majority of the dialogue being lifted directly from tapes documenting the two men's conversations leading up to Ted's execution.

It shows you the portrait of a man who is either incapable of controlling his insatiable appetites for sexual violence or it presents you with the image of cold and cunning psychopath who knew how to appear like an ordinary decent human being, which one you see is up to you.

No Man Of God also raises an important question around the death penalty and asks us if we can even empathise to some small degree with a person being put to death who by all accounts absolutely deserves it and more.

Elijah wood puts in a modestly great performance as Bill Hagmaier, who has the feel of man looking into the abyss while the endless black shadows of Bundy's eyes stare back into his soul,
asking him if it is all really all that different from his own.

If you're interested in true crime this is a must see,
Jack Kirby's performance is nothing short of phenomenal.
