Brother's Nest is an underrated black comedy from Australian director Clayton Jacobson. The premise is that two brothers plot to kill their step-father and things go sideways fast.
I love movies that take a look at what would happen if two relatively ordinary people decided to commit a crime, how they would go about planning it, carrying it through and covering it up and ultimately how they would severely screw up each stage of the process. That is exactly what this film is and why I enjoyed it as much as i did. It's a hilariously dark yet grounded story.
I'd recommend this if you enjoyed Matt Palmer's Calibre. it has the same sense of humor. Another aspect of this film that's very strong is that its Shakespearean in many ways, the tragic fall of two brothers due to their own selfish greed. The performances from the two leads are great and you can imagine this working as successfully if it were a play.
I love finding unheard of films like this,
check it out.
