Freaky is a fun slasher/horror comedy riff on Freaky Friday with the lead final girl played by Kathryn Newton swapping bodies with a Jason Vorhees-esque psychopath played by Vince Vaughn. There's loads to enjoy about this movie, It manages to get the right balance of horror and comedy to still be an effective slasher flick while being genuinely funny.
All of the comedy comes from Vince Vaughn acting like a scared teenage girl, when given the opportunity to do something different he always shows that he has a pretty broad range as an actor, to be able to go from the hard boiled vigilante in Brawl In Cell Block 99 to doing a role as silly as this and manage to pull off both with the same amount of authenticity is not easy. He's really good in this.
It's also a surprisingly violent film for a horror comedy and it makes full use of its ridiculous concept.
It's a fun ride. definitely worth your time.
