I know what you did last summer

The story as I'm sure you're already aware is about a group of teenagers (all played by thirty year old's because it was made in the late nineties) who while drunk driving hit a stranger with their car and leave him for dead, believing they have escaped the consequences of their actions until one year later a mysterious figure with a hook for a hand hunts them down one by one.

I know what you did last summer is a really fun thriller, it's one of a long line of late 90's/early 2000's horror films that focus more on story and mystery, rather than out and out gore and violent kills. I believe I've seen this film once before, years ago when I was a kid, it's one of those movies you grow up with an instant awareness of partly because it's been parodied to death but it is also a very solid movie. The early 2000's was a time when horror wasn't really taken all that seriously, all the films that came out during that time were cheesy albeit fun rides and so you have to judge it against other films like it and it's a good one for sure. It's definitely an iconic and memorable film from that era of horror cinema.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer actually starts off really strong, the kills are more brutal, the set up of Julie James and her friends being stalked on their trip to the Bahamas during storm season adds for some cool atmosphere with the impending storm looming on the horizon. But ultimately it's a complete mess of a film but a really enjoyable mess. It has everything from Jack Black as a white Rastafarian to a voodoo plot that it completely forgets about by the third act. There are pointless scenes that are literally incomprehensible and certain characters have more abrupt and confusing face and heel turns than the Big Show in WWF Wrestling.

The film feels like it was written as it was shot it is that nonsensical, but hell, I enjoyed every illogical minute of it.
