Inside

Inside directed by Alexandre Bustillo is one of the first films I watched belonging to the "New French Extremity" Sub-Genre,
and it's one of my favourites, it is absolutely brutal.

It's easily within my top five favourite home invasion movies,
the plot involves a pregnant woman who's house is broken into by a psychopath who intends on cutting out the child from her womb to keep it as her own.

Beatrice Dalle gives an extremely unnerving performance as the psychopath only credited as "La Femme". She is a force of nature that cannot be stopped or reasoned with. It's a simple straight forward anxiety inducing movie with some really creepy imagery,
one scene in particular stands out for me and it's when Beatrice first enters the victims home, Sarah (played by Alysson Paradis)
is sound asleep on the couch unaware of the looming threat which stands in the hallway half concealed in shadow.

The film's climax is so horrifically shocking that as much as I do recommend that you watch it, this isn't a movie for newcomers to the genre as honestly the premise alone is enough to put off a lot of people, but nevertheless its a very good film.
