I remember reading Garth Ennis's "The Crossed" and thinking, "there is no way someone could ever make a film out of this, it'd be banned", well , that's exactly what 2021's The Sadness is.
It's a film adaptation of The Crossed with a different title,
the amount of gore in this film is unbelievable. Like The Crossed its about a zombie apocalypse but the infected aren't mindless zombies and are instead horrifying sexual sadists who enjoy inflicting as much pain on others as they do themselves.
There are scenes that are literally lifted from the pages of that Comic and they are horrendous.
The zombies in this film are terrifying as they smile with wide eyed glee salivating while disembowelling each other and ripping apart anything and anyone that crosses their path, there are scenes of violence in this that will flat out disturb anybody who isn't used to extreme horror.
Its in my top ten favourite zombie films ever made
because its the only one to really scare me to any degree,
it's intense.
